GITEX Asia 2025 showcases region’s digital future

From April 23 to 25, 2025, GITEX Asia debuted at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event brought together over 400 startups and hundreds of speakers focused on AI, 5G, IoT, and green-tech. As Asia’s flagship edition of the global GITEX series, the showcase confirmed Singapore’s status as a leading hub for innovation and regional collaboration. It also spotlighted emerging tech leadership across the Indo-Pacific.

A new chapter for GITEX in Asia

For years, GITEX (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) has been a highlight of Dubai’s tech calendar. Known for unveiling global tech breakthroughs, it has now expanded beyond the Middle East. GITEX Asia 2025 marked the first time the brand ventured abroad, choosing Singapore to lead the way.

Organized by KAOUN International—a subsidiary of Dubai World Trade Centre—the Singapore edition adapted the global model to reflect Asian priorities. These included climate innovation, digital government, financial inclusion, and advanced telecommunications. The event also aligned with Singapore’s Smart Nation vision and its role as a gateway for cross-border tech partnerships

Deep tech, AI, and startup ecosystem in spotlight

The event drew startups and speakers from over 30 countries. Innovations spanned generative AI, robotics, smart mobility, fintech, and sustainability tech. Government-backed pavilions were hosted by Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Enterprise Singapore, and Japan’s JETRO, showcasing regional innovation at scale.

Notable moments included:

  • Sal Khan, founder of Khan Academy, discussing the future of AI in education.

  • Dr. Ayesha Khanna, CEO of ADDO AI, sharing insights on smart city systems.

  • David Hanson, creator of Sophia the Robot, speaking on robotics and consciousness.

Several product launches added excitement:

  • Rebellions (South Korea) introduced a next-gen AI chip optimized for edge computing.

  • GrowSmart (Thailand) launched an AI-powered smart farming SaaS platform.

  • Web3 startups from Malaysia and the Philippines presented green energy blockchain pilots.

The event also hosted a Global Investor Summit that connected over 150 venture capitalists with founders. More than 80 sessions addressed topics like AI governance, digital identity, and responsible deployment of large language models.

Why GITEX Asia matters now

GITEX Asia comes at a critical time for regional tech. With U.S.–China decoupling and ASEAN countries ramping up digital investments, the need for neutral platforms is growing. Singapore’s stable policy landscape and global reputation made it a natural choice.

The event marked a shift from tech consumption to tech origination across Asia. Startups from Vietnam, Taiwan, and Bangladesh unveiled solutions with global potential—underscoring Asia’s new role as a producer of deep innovation.

Importantly, the show highlighted less-visible markets. Exhibitors from Laos, Mongolia, and Bangladesh brought diversity to the stage. This focus reflects a broader trend toward decentralized innovation, where talent and capital flow beyond traditional centers.

Scaling regional innovation for global impact

The strong turnout and high-profile launches suggest GITEX Asia is poised to become a regular fixture in Singapore’s event calendar. Organizers plan to introduce new tracks in 2026, including AI policy harmonization, Web3 public service tools, and smart manufacturing alliances.

As Asia is projected to contribute more than half of global tech spending by 2030, platforms like GITEX Asia will help define global standards. Future events are likely to shape policy, facilitate venture deals, and drive innovation agendas across ASEAN and Northeast Asia.

With governments, universities, startups, and investors coming together, the momentum built at GITEX Asia 2025 points to a bold new chapter for the region. Asia is not only participating in the global tech economy—it’s leading it.
