Miss World India finale repositions nation as global cultural host

For the first time in more than two decades, the Miss World Grand Finale will be held in India, culminating on May 31, 2025. With contestants from over 100 countries, the event marks a significant return of the global pageant to South Asia. The Miss World India finale is more than a beauty event—it is a strategic showcase of India’s culture, diplomacy, and growing global influence.

India hosts world-class pageant return

The 72nd Miss World competition is taking place at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana. Contestants have been in India since May 10, taking part in cultural tours, heritage walks, and community-led events across the country.

Activities include:

  • A heritage walk at Charminar

  • Visits to historic landmarks like the Ramappa Temple

  • Participation in Bathukamma, Telangana’s iconic floral festival

The reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, will crown her successor in a ceremony that blends glamour with cultural diplomacy.

Global pageantry meets cultural diplomacy

Miss World 2025 is as much about heritage as it is about beauty. In line with the pageant’s “Beauty with a Purpose” mission, this year’s edition includes high-impact, socially conscious programming.

Contestants visited:

  • The Integrated Command and Control Centre, promoting the ‘Secure India, Safe Tourism’ initiative

  • T-Hub, India’s tech incubator, and Shilpakala Vedika, a cultural venue celebrating artisanship

They also participated in:

  • The Sports Finale at Gachibowli Stadium

  • The Head-to-Head Challenge at the Indian School of Business (ISB)

  • Fashion showcases and gala dinners celebrating pearls, textiles, and traditional design

These events underscore India’s ambition to lead in both cultural diplomacy and global hospitality.

India’s global moment: spotlight on Nandini Gupta

Representing India this year is Nandini Gupta, a 22-year-old from Rajasthan. Her participation reflects India’s rich legacy in international pageantry and reinforces the country’s growing soft power influence.

India’s hosting of Miss World 2025 comes at a moment when it is increasingly being seen as a destination for global cultural, business, and diplomatic events. From the G20 Summit to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the country is rewriting its role on the world stage.

Editorial insight: Soft power redefined

The Miss World India finale signals more than a return to hosting—it affirms India’s elevated status in global storytelling. Pageantry, often dismissed as symbolic, here serves as a tool for diplomacy, tourism promotion, and nation branding.

India’s blend of tradition and innovation is on full display. From artisan workshops to tech-led initiatives, the event positions the country not just as a participant—but as a curator of global experiences.

Conclusion: A future-forward celebration of culture and pride

As the world awaits the crowning of Miss World 2025, India steps into the spotlight—not just as a host, but as a cultural powerhouse. The event reinforces the nation’s ability to merge tradition, inclusivity, and global relevance, strengthening its case as a future leader in the soft power economy.
